Reasons for not liking CNY

1) It is noisy.

2) It is crowded.

3) Relatives either live in a time warp of you (ie "Have you finished school yet???" or "Just started work ah?? Where ah??") OR worse, ask the usual incessant questions I hate to answer (ie "Got boyfriend or not???" or "Married already or not??"). And I hate having to make small talk with people I have nothing in common with.

4) Chinese New Year music is noisy and annoying.

5) It is usually hot around this time of year (not this year though)

6) Did I mention that it is REALLY noisy this time of year????

Anyways, I am all set for CNY - my box of Seasons 6 & 7 of Gilmore Girls have *finally* arrived in the mail. I will officially hibernate for the next 4 days. Not even ang pows can entice me to come out (unless they're at least in 3-digits....). =P

Why didn't you tell me you liked Gilmore Girls. I already had the complete season six and seven from *ahem* my sources in Jakarta.

Well I think that Chinese New Year is eminently practical because at least it consolidates much of the extended relatives visiting into one portion of the year.

As for the awkward questions - well, you are given a monetary incentive (ang pow) to grin and bear it!
